Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED)
Our initiative is a public health incubator, designed to cultivate novel insights and strategies for prevention. We introduce trainees to a rich array of disciplinary perspectives, methodologies, and theories and provide them with opportunities to join crosscutting collaborative teams.
Academic Seminars
We incorporate academic sessions on topics related to eating disorders prevention into a range of standing seminars and courses offered at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and Boston Children’s Hospital in addition to film screenings and discussions for the wider community.
Our past film screening and discussion events at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health include the documentary films Miss Representation, Beauty Mark, America the Beautiful, Disfigured, and Shredded all provocative critiques of pressures created by the beauty industry and weight-related stigma and their consequences on body image, eating disorders, and health, especially for girls and women, but also for boys and men.
