Michigan: Out of Kids’ Hands
Bill Information
Sponsored by Representative Erin Byrnes and introduced in the Michigan House on November 12, 2025, House Bill 5250—the Weight Loss Products and Minors Act—seeks to establish critical protections for young people by restricting their access to certain weight loss and muscle‑building products. This bill would prohibit the sale of over‑the‑counter diet pills and dietary supplements marketed for weight loss or muscle building to individuals under 18. It also creates strong safeguards for both in‑store and online sales, requiring age verification for all purchases, identity confirmation for virtual orders, and secure delivery methods that prevent minors from accepting shipments.
