Massachusetts: Out of Kids’ Hands
Legislative Updates
Massachusetts House Bill H.2530 and Senate Bill S.1620 were heard in the Joint Committee on Public Health in June 2025. Advocates are working hard with lawmakers across the state to champion common-sense protections for children, and momentum continues to build. We remain steadfast in our commitment to securing stronger protections for youth. Stay tuned for future opportunities to support this important cause.
Bill Information
Sponsored by Representative Lindsay Sabadosa in the House, and Senator Mike Rush in the Senate in the 2025-2026 legislative session, this bill aims to put in place critical safeguards to protect young people from harmful weight loss and muscle-building supplements. An Act protecting children from harmful diet pills and muscle-building supplements (H.2530 / S.1620) would protect minors by prohibiting the sale of over-the-counter diet pills and muscle-building supplements to individuals under 18. The bill also includes safeguards for online sales, requiring age verification and delivery restrictions, and mandates that these products be placed behind store counters or in locked cases to prevent unauthorized access.
