Legislative Updates
In 2026, SB 2106 advanced through the Senate Health and Human Services Committee before being deferred by the Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee. HB 2380 and SB 2284 did not advance before the 2026 legislative session adjourned on May 8.
New legislation would need to be introduced in 2027.
Bill Information
House Bill 2380: Sponsored by Representatives Mark Hashem, Tina Grandinetti, and Cory Chun, HB 2380 would prohibit the sale of nonprescription diet pills and dietary supplements marketed for weight loss or muscle building to individuals under 18 and require age-verification safeguards for retail and delivery sales.
Senate Bill 2106 and Senate Bill 2284: Companion measures SB2106 and SB2284 would similarly prohibit the sale of nonprescription weight loss and muscle-building supplements to minors and establish age-verification safeguards.
