The Harvard Chan School Executive and Continuing Education AI in Health Care Certificate of Specialization is for all healthcare stakeholders, from the doctor’s office to the business suite. Those who will benefit from this certificate include CEOs, CIOs, Chief Medical Informatics Officers, Chief Medical Officers, Clinicians, Data Scientists, Engineers, Finance Professionals, Implementation Specialists, Product and Project Managers, and Venture Capital Investors. 
 
To earn your AI in Health Care Certificate of Specialization, you must complete 3 programs: Responsible AI for Health Care: Concepts and Applications, Innovation with AI in Health Care, and Implementing Health Care AI into Clinical Practice. 

Note: Individuals who have completed at least 1 healthcare AI course at Harvard Chan School before March 2026 will remain eligible to earn the certificate with two courses.

There is no set price for the AI in Health Care Certificate of Specialization as those pursuing the certificate will pay for each individual course separately. For the cost of each course, please visit the program pages below:  

We recommend that participants begin their certificate journey with Responsible AI in Health Care: Concepts and Applications and subsequently take Innovation with AI in Health Care and/or Implementing Health Care AI into Clinical Practice. The reason is that Responsible AI for Health Care covers more foundational concepts upon which Innovation with AI in Health Care and Implementing Health Care AI into Clinical Practice builds.    

However, if you already have a background in artificial intelligence and these program dates do not fit your schedule, you are welcome to reverse the order, but please be aware that if you take Innovation with AI in Health Care or Implementing Health Care AI into Clinical Practice first, some concepts in Responsible AI for Health Care will be review for you. 

Those who have taken Applied Artificial Intelligence for Health Care in 2021 or 2022 will receive credit toward the AI in Health Care Certificate of Specialization and need only take Innovation with AI in Health Care or Implementing Health Care AI into Clinical Practice to qualify. 

Starting in March 2026, individuals who have not previously completed a healthcare AI course at the Harvard Chan School will need to complete all 3 of our AI programs to earn the certificate.

However, if you have already completed a healthcare AI course (or are enrolled in the Responsible AI for Health Care program in February 2026), you may complete the Certificate of Specialization with 2 courses, as was the prior policy.
