Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED)

Our initiative is a public health incubator, designed to cultivate novel insights and strategies for prevention. We introduce trainees to a rich array of disciplinary perspectives, methodologies, and theories and provide them with opportunities to join crosscutting collaborative teams.

STRIPED Youth Teams

Youth Policy Translation Team

The mission of the STRIPED Youth Teams is to train the next generation of youth leaders to harness the power of their advocacy and research to address eating disorders and related problems with food, weight, and appearance. We strive to create a society where girls, boys, and people of all genders can grow up at home in their own bodies.

STRIPED has been collaborating with youth on pubic health initiatives, through our Youth Policy Translation Team. This team works to translate public health research into policy action, including through STRIPED’s Out of Kids’ Hands campaign to prohibit the over-the-counter sale of diet pills and muscle-building supplements to minors.

Are you 24 years old or younger? Are you ready to make your political voice heard and help protect young people? If you said yes to both of those questions, contact our Program Coordinator to learn more about joining our Youth Policy Translation Team.

STRIPED Youth Corps

Youth Corps members play a leadership role within this work by helping train and support other young advocates as they learn how to communicate research, engage in advocacy, and participate in state policy campaigns. Every year, a small number of youth are selected for the STRIPED Youth Corps, check out the STRIPED Youth Corps team below.
