Academic Year Non-Degree Programs: Eligibility
Use the list below to determine your eligibility category prior to submitting your application to the Academic Year Non-Degree program. Applicants will need to provide their eligibility category on the application form.
Once you have determined your eligibility category, please review the supporting documentation required for the application. Applicants should gather these materials in advance of the application window and submit them before the application window closes.
If you meet the requirements for more than one eligibility category, you must apply under the first category you are eligible for per the list below.
- Yes: Your eligibility category is Harvard Chan Alumni.
- Must have graduated from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from a degree-granting program.
- Can take up to 10 ordinal or pass/fail credits per semester.
- Pay per credit.
- No: Continue to next step.
- List of Harvard-affiliated institutions.
- Yes: Your eligibility category is Harvard Affiliate.
- Must be a current, full-time, paid employee of one of these institutions.
- Can take up to 10 ordinal or pass/fail credits per semester.
- Pay per credit.
- No: Continue to next step.
- Yes: Your eligibility category is Nutrition and Global Health.
- Must be accepted in to the HIS Training Programs from the Global Health and Population Department.
- Can take up to 10 ordinal or pass/fail credits per semester.
- Pay per credit.
- No: Continue to next step.
- Yes: Your eligibility category is Lown Scholar.
- Must be accepted as a Lown Scholar Recipient.
- Can take up to 10 ordinal or pass/fail credits per semester.
- Pay per credit.
- No: Continue to next step.
- Yes: Your eligibility category is Special Fellow.
- Must be a member of one of the above fellowship programs.
- Can take up to 5 credits as audit per semester.
- No tuition.
- Note: Harvard Chan post-docs can alternatively participate as TAP and should confirm with the Benefits Office if wishing to do this. More information in next step.

- Yes: Your eligibility category is TAP.
- Please consult the Benefits Office to determine your TAP eligibility.
- Harvard Chan School post-docs can participate as TAP (see here) but should confirm with the Benefits Office.

- Yes: Your eligibility category is Boston Area Public Health Professional.
- Must be a current, full-time, paid public health professional in the Boston metro area and must not qualify as a Harvard Affiliate.
- Can take up to 10 ordinal or pass/fail credits per semester.
- Pay per credit.
