Nada Milosavljevic is the recipient of the 2026 James H. Ware Award for Achievement in the Practice of Public Health.
Successful fieldwork highlights the importance of entering communities with humility, curiosity, and a willingness to listen with deep intention. The most meaningful public health work often happens when technical expertise is paired with genuine partnership, allowing communities themselves to shape solutions that are sustainable, culturally grounded, and equitable.
Partner Organization: Health2Go and Ensign Global University
Location: Kpong, Ghana
Nada’s practicum focused on strengthening healthcare delivery in rural and remote settings through digital data capture, spatial analytics, and systems-level analysis. Working in collaboration with Ensign Global University, the Ghana Health Service (GHS), and the Health2Go program, Nada developed and piloted a GIS-based methodology to identify remote communities, map infrastructure, and visualize access barriers in the Yilo Krobo District. This region is characterized by mountainous terrain, limited road networks, and communities not consistently or accurately represented on global, national, or regional maps.
The overarching goal was to create a repeatable, scalable, low-cost approach that would allow Health2Go’s community health workers to reach families with essential primary care services and diagnostic testing. This effort expanded health access with a particular focus on services related to maternal, infant, and infectious disease outcomes. Nada worked with Harvard GIS to finalize linked datasets and maps that have been submitted to Google Maps and Open Street Maps. These final steps contributed to the global geospatial community and provide enhanced service access and a readiness framework for this region in Eastern Ghana.

Nada Milosavljevic is a physician-executive and entrepreneur who has built and scaled companies at the intersection of healthcare and digital innovation. Her work focuses on translating clinical insight and scientific discovery into commercially viable, technology-enabled healthcare solutions. She began her career as an intellectual property attorney in the biotechnology and medical device sectors, advising and representing companies on patent strategy, prosecution, and litigation where she protected and positioned innovation for market success. Dr. Milosavljevic is the Founder and former President of The Guild, a data analytics company specializing in high-complexity flow cytometry and assay design, where she built advanced analytical capabilities to support both research and clinical applications. As Chief Medical Officer at Safe Health, she led clinical strategy, digital care protocol development, and regulatory alignment with government agencies particularly CMS. Her work integrated clinical workflows with technology platforms and enabled scalable remote diagnostics and care delivery models. Her current work centers on building data-driven infrastructure for healthcare delivery in resource-constrained environments. She has designed and implemented scalable field-based models in complex health environments in collaboration with global partners including: Lifeline Humanitarian Organization, Health2Go, and the Ghana Health Service, with active deployment in Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa.
This award is presented to a student upon graduation who has demonstrated commitment and achievement and has advanced the cause of public health practice while enrolled as a student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
