Field Practice Awards
Each year the Office of Educational Programs recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the practice of public health.
These Commencement awards are given to a student or student team for either a practicum project or for demonstrating commitment and achievement and advancing the cause of public health practice while enrolled as a student at the Harvard Chan School. The awards are named for Gareth M. Green and James H. Ware.
Recognizes a student team or individual whose project in public health practice contributes to the improvement of health of a defined population and makes a significant contribution to the public health practice knowledge base.
Environmental health and professor Gareth M. Green ’53 served as Associate Dean for Professional Education in the Harvard School of Public Health.
Awarded to a student upon graduation who has demonstrated commitment and achievement and has advanced the cause of public health practice while enrolled as a student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
James H. Ware was the Frederick Mosteller Professor of Biostatistics and Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Science at the Harvard Chan School. He served as Dean for Academic Affairs (1990-2009), including serving as Acting Dean (1997-1998).
