Climate Week NYC Reception

Featuring a panel of experts on human health, climate change, and real-world solutions

As leaders from around the world gather in New York City for Climate Week 2025, join us for an intimate reception where groundbreaking research meets meaningful action. On Tuesday, September 23, host Craig Cogut welcomes leading faculty from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment (C-CHANGE) for this important discussion.

This presentation focuses on the immediate, personal and public health impacts of climate change—and the solutions being developed right now to address them.

Expert Panel & Networking

Join us for cocktails, conversation, and a panel discussion featuring Harvard Chan C-CHANGE faculty and others at the forefront of climate and health research. This event will be hosted by Craig Cogut, founder and co-managing partner of Pegasus Capital Advisors and advisory board member of C-CHANGE.

For almost 30 years, C-CHANGE has been translating climate science into evidence-based solutions for governments, businesses, health systems, and individuals.

Moderated by Mary Rice, MD, MPH, director of C-CHANGE and Mark and Catherine Winkler Associate Professor of Environmental Respiratory Health, the panel portion will showcase solutions-focused work happening today—from studies on how extreme heat exacerbates air pollution, creating a “double whammy” for health, to research on how fossil fuel combustion affects health.

Dr. Rice, a pulmonary and critical care physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, has been at the forefront of national policy discussions on air pollution and climate change, including testifying before Congress as an expert witness on the health effects of air pollution.

Panelists include Amruta Nori-Sarma, C-CHANGE deputy director, Gina McCarthy, professor of the practice of public health in the Department of Environmental Health and former director of C-CHANGE, Gaurab Basu, core faculty at C-CHANGE, and Vijay Kumar, executive vice chairman of the Indian non-profit Rythu Sadhikara Samstha, who has led climate-resilient natural farming initiatives for 11.5 million rural communities.

Why This Matters Now

Critical research on climate change and health faces dramatic funding cuts, yet climate change continues to impact communities worldwide. This reception offers an opportunity to learn about groundbreaking work, connect with leaders, and explore how you might help ensure this vital research continues.
