Welcome
The mission of the Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HPRC) is to work with community partners to develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate cost-effective strategies that will improve population nutrition and physical activity, prevent excess weight gain and chronic disease, and advance health equity.
Based in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard Chan School, HPRC is a member of a national network of Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Our Research
Our work has led to changes in environmental systems and widespread use of evidence-based programs, policies, and resources developed through our research.
Our Team
Our team of faculty and researchers conducts a variety of community-based participatory research in schools, early care and education, out-of-school time, communities, and clinical settings.
Community Engagement
We use a community-based participatory research approach to enhance the relevance to population health and the likelihood of implementation, effectiveness, reach, sustainability, and dissemination.
About the Center
Since 1998, the Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity has worked with community partners and launched groundbreaking research in a variety of settings: schools, early care and education, out-of-school time, communities, and clinical settings. We have worked to develop, evaluate, and disseminate tools and trainings within our partner communities and states, as well as nationally and internationally.
