Prevention of Acute Malnutrition amongst children during the COVID-19 pandemic

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) hosted a webinar on Prevention of Acute Malnutrition Amongst Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Dr. P Ashok Babu, Director, POSHAN Abhiyaan and Anganwadi Services, Ministry of Women and Child Development spoke about the Ministry’s strategy to address malnutrition amongst Severe Acute Malnutrition and Moderate Acute Malnutrition children and multi-sectoral response of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). Dr. Ananya Awasthi, Assistant Director, Harvard Chan India Research Center and Member, Advisory Committee, NCPCR, discussed the role of Community Health Workers in providing supplementary nutrition and healthcare services to underweight children during the COVID-19 lockdown. The webinar was moderated by Ms. Shaista Shah, Senior Technical Expert, NCPCR.
