The Atrocity Prevention Lab is a project to strengthen innovation, collaboration, and impact of atrocity and conflict prevention work through the integration of spatial methods and technologies. Launched in 2023, this project was established by the Signal Program on Human Security and Technology at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.

2025 Conference
The Atrocity Prevention Lab at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative is pleased to invite you to our Annual Conference, Spatial Strategies for Peace, taking place virtually on March 18 and 19, 2025.
This year’s conference will explore the applications of maps, data, and spatial methods in supporting early warning and early action efforts aimed at preventing conflict and atrocity. This includes the following key themes:
- Understanding the drivers of conflict/atrocity through spatial analysis
- Integrating spatial analysis into atrocity and crisis early response
- Evaluating the impact of geospatial data on conflict/atrocity prevention programming/policy decision-making
- Spatial data for monitoring and evaluation of conflict transformation/atrocity prevention
- Ethical considerations of spatial data for conflict/atrocity prevention
This conference presents an exciting, free, and virtual opportunity for practitioners, policymakers, technologists, and academics in the fields of atrocity and conflict prevention to engage with one another, share insights, and explore how spatial methods can drive more effective atrocity prevention efforts.
