The course is designed to be helpful preparation for introductory courses in biostatistics and epidemiology, but students in all programs who would benefit from a review of math basics are welcome and encouraged to join.
Math Refresher is presented online in two parts. The first part consists of three introductory modules for those who want to brush up on elementary concepts before diving into the course material. The second main part of the course focuses on more advanced mathematical skills relevant to your future coursework. It includes four modules consisting of video lectures and practice “homework assignments.” Note that homework assignments are required for students admitted with a contingency to complete Math Refresher, and are optional for all others as an opportunity for practice and instructor feedback. The instructors will also host live office hours throughout the summer to help with course content and any other questions you may have about math at Harvard Chan.
