Learning Assistance
Academic Coaching
Academic Coaching is an individualized approach to supporting the graduate students academic and learning goals. Coaches implement specific strategies and tools to assist students fully reach their potential. Academic coaching is a free service for Harvard Chan students.
Some of the issues that students may work with an Academic Coach include difficulty in absorbing new material, completing academic work, or understanding reading materials; anxiety about quantitative skills, writing, or test taking; and reluctance to speak in class. Through strategic intervention, Academic Coaches help students overcome academic hurdles before they become insurmountable.
Academic Coaches provide flexible hours, as arranged between the student and their coach. Meetings typically will be virtual via zoom but can be arranged for in person upon request.

Content-based Tutoring
Students experiencing difficulty in a course should consult with the instructor and/or teaching assistant in that course and should make full use of the resources available, including labs, teaching assistant sessions and office hours, instructor office hours, and scheduled remedial sessions. Students considered by the instructor to be in academic difficulty in a course required for graduation may be able to arrange for a tutor.
