Committee on Microbiological Safety (COMS) serves as the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) for Harvard Medical School and COMS-Affiliated Institutions. 

The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is committed to openness of research and freedom of access and dissemination of information for the advancement of scientific discovery.  The School is also committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing exports.

This office is the administrative unit that supports the Harvard Medical Area Standing Committee on Animals (HMA IACUC) to ensure animal research is held to the highest standards and carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements.
