Program Overview

Global Environmental Health 4:Translation & Application is an interactive, project-based course that teaches participants how to critically evaluate scientific literature and apply scientific knowledge in real-world settings. Participants will learn how to develop a research paper, including conducting a literature review and writing descriptive analysis, methods, results, and discussion sections. The course also includes collaborative project work, culminating in a final research presentation delivered to faculty and peers.

This course is part of the Environmental Health Certificate of Specialization, a four-course series covering air pollution, climate change, water quality, and environmental health research methods. Participants may enroll in this course individually or complete all four courses to earn the Certificate of Specialization and gain a comprehensive foundation in environmental health.

Program Details

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Critically evaluate scientific literature in environmental health 
  • Translate scientific evidence into practical applications relevant to environmental health challenges 
  • Conduct a literature review and organize findings into a clear research narrative 
  • Develop core sections of a research paper, including descriptive analysis, methods, results, and discussion 
  • Collaborate with peers to create and deliver a research presentation 
  • Strengthen your ability to search, archive, evaluate, analyze, and apply evidence from current scientific and professional literature 
  • Gain insight into how environmental health research can be communicated and applied in professional and academic settings 

This program will be held in a live online format. As the final course in the Environmental Health Certificate of Specialization, it provides an opportunity for participants to apply their knowledge in a live setting and engage directly with the faculty and peers they have worked with throughout the program.
