Capacity building workshop for Non-Governmental Organizations in tobacco control

The India Research Center in collaboration with Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation and Salaam Mumbai Foundation conducted a workshop that focused on building the capacity of NGOs working in the area of tobacco control.

Dr. Govind Tripathi, technical advisor at the Union, presented the opening keynote, which described the role of NGOs in effective implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. K. Viswanath on the science of strategic public health communication and how it may be applied to promote change in tobacco-related behaviors, practices, and policies in a community. And the guest lecture was delivered by Siddharth Prakash, senior research program manager at Microsoft, who highlighted the use of artificial intelligence in data collection for NGOs.
