Golden Lab’s Planetary Health Research Group
The Golden Lab uses planetary health approaches to examine the human health impacts of climate and environmental change. Our team is split into two, with half of us focusing on data science approaches to establishing systems of climate-smart public health, and the other half focusing on healthy and sustainable food systems, with a particular focus on aquatic foods.

Rea Rustagi
Rea Rustagi is an MS candidate in the Environmental Health department interested in improving health across the life course and applying data science methods to better understand the impacts of climate change. Her current work in the Golden group focuses on quantifying climactic drivers of snakebite burden across Nepal, and her other research work aims to describe historical adaptation to heatwaves in the Eastern Mediterranean region. Outside of HSPH, Rea is engaged with nature-based children’s education initiatives through the Somerville Growing Center and Groundwork Somerville. Previously, Rea worked as a technical writer, creating software documentation and other educational materials.
