The Harvard Chan India Research Center serves as a platform for collaborative public health research, bringing together Harvard Chan faculty and researchers with academic, government, and implementation partners across India. The Center supports the generation of evidence that addresses India’s most pressing public health priorities and strengthens research capacity. More specifically, the Center:

• Facilitates collaborative research between Harvard Chan and Indian researchers and institutions.
• Supports Harvard Chan faculty, researchers, and students conducting research in India through local partnerships, research coordination, grants, logistical support, and access to research infrastructure.  
• Provides fellowships and mentorship opportunities for early-career Indian researchers to work closely with Harvard Chan School faculty. 
• Supports implementation research, monitoring and evaluation, and other collaborative studies with governments and partner organizations.  
• Identifies emerging research priorities and funding opportunities, and connects researchers with shared interests to develop collaborative research initiatives to address key public health challenges.

The Center strengthens public health leadership and practice by developing learning opportunities, training programmes, and academic collaborations that build the skills needed to address current and emerging public health challenges. More specifically, the Center:

• Designs and delivers workshops and other training programmes for public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders on various areas of public health priority in India. 
• Supports field-based learning, internships, and research opportunities for Harvard Chan students in India.
• Facilitates mentorship opportunities for Indian students and researchers to work with Harvard Chan faculty.
• Builds leadership, research and technical capacity through fellowships, professional development programmes, and academic exchange. 

The Center bridges research, policy, and practice by translating scientific evidence into meaningful action. Through strategic partnerships and its convening role, the Center promotes evidence-informed decision-making and strengthens public health dialogue in India. More specifically, the Center:

• Capitalizes on the tremendous convening power of Harvard University to address major public health challenges through translation of evidence, promotion of evidence-based programs and interventions, and offering technical support for public health communication.
• Develops and supports learning networks and multidisciplinary collaboratives to address major public health challenges in India.
• Convenes dialogues, conferences, webinars, workshops, and collaborative platforms on priority public health issues.
• Partners with governments, academic institutions, civil society, and development organizations to translate research into evidence-informed policy and practice.
