International Collaborative on Costs, Outcomes, and Needs in Care (ICCONIC)

High-need, high-cost patients tend to account for a disproportionate share of healthcare spending across health systems. However, the ways in which health care utilization, spending, and outcomes for this patient population vary across health systems remain understudied.

ICCONIC is a partnership between collaborators from 18 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific centered around comparative health systems research. We aim to improve the availability of patient-level data and link data to conduct cross-country comparisons, with the ultimate goal of providing policymakers with insights into how care strategies and systems influence health care quality, cost, and outcomes.
