Evaluation Science for Global Safety

Many organizations that implement programs aimed at preventing targeted violence do not have the capacity to conduct evaluation activities to judge the success of their programs. Our team works collaboratively with practitioners from NATO member and partner countries to design and implement program evaluations tailored to the local context and needs of each country. Our team is leading a capacity-building project focused on the evaluation of programs designed to address targeted violence with support from the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), Defence Research and Development Canada and Public Safety Canada. Our team is working in the US, Canada, and Europe, to contribute to the overall effectiveness, transparency and accountability of programs to prevent targeted violence in local communities. One of the central aims of this project is to develop the Global Safety Evaluation (GSE) Network. The GSE Network was born as a network of practitioners, scientists, and government officials engaged in implementing evaluation methods applied to programs designed to prevent targeted violence.
