Biography
Dr. Jack T. Dennerlein is an internationally recognized scholar in occupational safety and health, with a primary focus on ergonomics and worker well-being. For nearly three decades, his federally funded research has examined how work systems can be designed to improve safety, health, and human performance. His work spans the design of human-computer interaction technologies and the development of workplace interventions that address physical, psychosocial, and organizational risk factors across industries including construction, healthcare, and transportation. He has also advanced the use of wearable sensor technologies to better understand and quantify injury risk.
Dr. Dennerlein has been a national leader in the development of NIOSH's Total Worker Health program, which integrates workplace safety and health promotion to improve worker well-being. He serves as Senior Advisor to the Center for Work, Health, and Well-being at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, one of ten NIOSH Centers of Excellence for Total Worker Health.
His current research emphasizes implementation science approaches to translating evidence into practice and includes emerging work on the impact of artificial intelligence on worker safety and health. He has published more than 200 scholarly works and serves on editorial boards, several committees of the National Academies, and scientific advisory committees for organizations advancing occupational health research and practice.
