Academic Strategy

Aligned with ORSD’s mission to strategically bolster the School’s research efforts, the department also plays a crucial role in supporting the School’s broader academic strategy. In collaboration with Harvard Chan leadership and faculty, ORSD is dedicated to advancing institutional priorities, amplifying the School’s reach, and enhancing its public health impact.

Key initiatives in this area include:

  • Partnering with the Office of Communications to promote significant research findings and elevate the scholarly impact of our faculty’s work.
  • Identifying and prioritizing infrastructure needs, and assisting faculty and research teams in securing the appropriate resources to address these needs.
  • Organizing faculty convenings that focus on the school’s designated research priorities, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Facilitating team science by working with scientific teams to expand large-scale, multi-departmental, and interdisciplinary research programs.
  • Liaising with the University’s federal relations team to anticipate and respond to changes in the federal funding landscape.
