About us
The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Department of Information Technology (IT) provides comprehensive IT services, expert guidance, and innovative solutions to support our faculty, students, staff, and researchers. Our mission aligns with the key pillars of the Harvard Chan School: to discover, teach, and cultivate the next generation of public health leaders.
Led by our CIO, Deane Eastwood, our department is structured into three main areas, each managed by a director:
- Infrastructure services: Focuses on secure, robust, and reliable IT infrastructure including research computing, data storage, networking, and data security and privacy.
- Technology services: Handles IT helpdesk operations and web services to ensure seamless technological support and online presence.
- Academic technology: Manages the learning management system, learning spaces, conference rooms, and videography to enhance the educational experience.
Leadership
Deane Eastwood is chief information officer at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health where he provides strategic direction for the IT Department. He has worked in information technology for more than 20 years in a variety of roles.
Matt Ronn is the Director of Infrastructure Services at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His work focuses on providing reliable, scalable, and secure computing platforms for students, faculty, and staff.
Alex Garcia-Rangel brings 20 plus years of Harvard IT experience to his role as Associate Director of Technology Services. Having first arrived in 1998 at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health via a staffing agency, he found a home and never left.
John Graves is the Associate Director of Academic Technology and Media Services at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where his focus is on designing, delivering, and maintaining academic technology and media services solutions for students, faculty, and staff. He has a wide array of interests which include instructional design and learning space design.
