Faculty
The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) offers consistent and comprehensive support to faculty and administrators on policies, procedures, and best practices. From onboarding to reappointments and promotions, and is a resource throughout a faculty member’s career. OFA manages and maintains documentation for recruitment, hiring, mentoring, development, leaves, retirements, and more. By tracking and analyzing related data, we provide strategic professional development opportunities and resources to ensure that our faculty are well-positioned for success.
Primary faculty are those whose chief affiliation is with the Harvard Chan School, which holds institutional responsibility for their appointments and career development. Titles include:
- Tenured Professor
- Associate Professor
- Assistant Professor
- Research Professor
- Professor of the Practice
- Professor in Residence
- Senior Lecturer
- Lecturer
Faculty members who hold a primary faculty appointment at another Harvard school.
Faculty members who ordinarily hold a primary appointment at an academic institution other than Harvard University or (by exception) employment in the private sector.
Faculty members who are ordinarily on sabbatical from their primary academic institution, but are occasionally engaged in critical work at the School not among the criteria for an adjunct appointment.
