In the News: Fighting extreme heat in 2026

Dr. Amruta Nori-Sarma recently spoke with NPR’s 1A about ways that cities can better prepare for heat waves, as they become more frequent and extreme.
One idea? Implementing more water-based cooling options for the public such as “…public splash pads, public pools, places where people could use water-based activities. We know that those are really protective during extreme heat waves as well,” says Dr. Nori-Sarma.
