A wave of gun violence research
While recent news has covered threats to government funding for gun violence prevention research and critical data systems, we’re reminded of HICRC Director Dr. David Hemenway’s 2022 interview with the Harvard Gazette:
“There are now so many more scholars researching gun issues that I think the science eventually will matter and make it harder for the gun lobby to say things that aren’t true.”
Indeed, writing in a special edition of Preventative Medicine dedicated to the study of gun violence, Dr. Hemenway acknowledges the surge of gun violence research made possible by funding and good data systems to meet the surging gun violence crisis.
