Dr. Bennett serves as Michigan State University’s (MSU) vice president and chief diversity officer where he reports directly to the president and is a member of the executive leadership team. In this role, he partners with other senior leaders, deans, faculty, staff, students and alumni to advance the institution’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategic priorities. Lisa Berkman, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Population and Development Studies, is a social epidemiologist whose work focuses extensively on psychosocial influences on health outcomes. Her research has been oriented towards understanding social inequalities in health related to socioeconomic status, different racial and ethnic groups, and social networks, support and social isolation. The majority of her work is devoted to identifying the role of social networks and support in predicting declines in physical and cognitive functioning, onset of disease and mortality, especially related to cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease. Prof. Peter Berman is a health economist with forty years of experience in research, policy analysis and development, and training and education in global health. He taught at HSPH from 1991-2004 at which time he joined the World Bank. He retired from the World Bank in mid-2011 and returned to HSPH since then. Currently, Prof. Berman is Faculty Director of the new Harvard DrPH program as well as Coordinator of Harvard Chan’s India Health Partnership. Wade Berner is a registered Professional Engineer in both the US and Canada and has been immersed within facility commissioning, optimization and performance for over 27 years. As a Commissioning Authority, he has implemented these strategies on projects ranging from elementary schools to highly critical facilities including two BSL4 laboratory facilities and a rocket launch complex. In his career, Wade has seen the construction industry from many different vantage points, starting with the owner’s as a commissioning field engineer with the Canadian Federal Government. Lavanya began her career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey and Company in Mumbai, where she specialized in strategy and turnaround projects. Lavanya later went on to work in the CEO’s office at The Hindu, one of India’s leading newspapers where she worked on supporting and building two in-house ventures. Currently, she is an Principal at InHealth Ventures where she has co-led the investment process in digital health start-ups across diagnostics, consumer health, behavioural health and health IT infrastructure. Nikhil Bhojwani is a Managing Partner at Recon Strategy, a consulting firm that he co-founded in 2010. Recon’s clients include health systems, provider organizations, payers, life-science firms, digital health firms, and non-profits. While most of these clients are large incumbent players, the firm sets aside 25% of its capacity for early-stage companies, and Nikhil stays close to the startup community as an investor, board member, and/or advisor to several companies. Jakob Bjørner is Chief Science Officer at QualityMetric and Professor of Epidemiology at the National Research Centre for the Working Environment in Denmark. He also has affiliations with the University of Copenhagen. Jakob specializes in applying modern psychometric theory to the measurement of health outcomes. In collaboration with John E. Ware Jr. and the science team at QualityMetric, Jakob developed the DYNHA® computerized adaptive testing software for measuring patient reported health outcomes. They have subsequently developed several computerized adaptive tests of generic and disease-specific health. Bonnie Blanchfield is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) and Harvard Medical School.
