Kelly McQueeney manages environmental issues for construction projects at Harvard. She initiated a sustainable soils program to reuse suitable soil materials as backfill at Harvard construction sites or as liner material for nearby landfills, providing significant cost savings to the University.Prior to joining Harvard, Kelly worked as an environmental consultant specializing in innovative remediation technologies for cost-effective site cleanup. Her site remediation experience ranges from large Superfund sites, to asbestos in soil, industrial solvents and dry cleaning sites. Dr. Nicolas Menzies is Associate Professor of Global Health in the Department of Global Health and Population, and part of the core faculty of the Harvard Center for Health Decision Science. Professor Menzies uses decision science and quantitative research to understand the consequences of policies to combat major infectious diseases, and help design effective disease control programs when resources are limited. His research focused on tuberculosis, HIV, and COVID-19, and his current work involves collaborations with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria.
Shelley Metzenbaum came to the School from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she was appointed Associate Administrator for Regional Operations and State/Local Relations by President Clinton. Prior to her work at EPA, Metzenbaum served as Undersecretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. In this position, she initiated several environmental permit reform projects and the reform of the state's Superfund program. She also organized an environmental business promotion project that led to the creation of the Massachusetts (and now the New England) Environmental Business Council.
