He has more than thirty years of experience as a field engineer in ASME N510 testing and consulting for nuclear air and gas treatment systems. He served as site manager and project manager at various nuclear power stations for the startup and acceptance testing programs of the air treatment systems. Dr. Steven M. Becker is professor of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Environmental Health in the Joint School of Public Health at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He is an internationally recognized expert on radiological/nuclear emergencies, with a special focus on community impacts and resilience; emergency planning, training, preparedness and response; responder concerns and information needs; drill and exercise design; risk communication and emergency messaging; and long-term recovery challenges.
