Robbie Goldstein, MD, PhD, is the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, overseeing a workforce of over 3,200 people responsible for addressing environmental health, infectious diseases, injury prevention, maternal and child health, health professions licensing, direct care at four public health hospitals, and the state public health laboratory. Previously, he served as Senior Policy Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he focused on public health emergency response, infectious diseases, and CDC’s strategic policy initiatives. Dr. Goldstein also served as the Medical Director and founder of the Massachusetts General Hospital Transgender Health Program. Trained in infectious diseases, he has focused his clinical work on providing care to those living with and at risk for HIV, and his academic and policy pursuits are dedicated to identifying and working to eliminate barriers to equitable access to care. Goldstein holds a BS, MD, and PhD from Tufts University.
