On behalf of our faculty, thank you for your interest in the Department of Molecular Metabolism at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Established in 2003, our department includes 13 full-time faculty, 18 doctoral students, 55 research associates and fellows, and three research scientists.
Our faculty’s research is concentrated within several broad categories, including stress and inflammatory signaling pathways, nutrient sensing and molecular transport, oxidative stress, metabolic homeostasis, the role of nuclear hormone receptors, cell growth and proliferation, and protein stability. The diseases under study include nutritional and metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases), cancer, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases both at the mechanistic level and in the context of population studies. As most of these health problems emerge as clusters, the research involves multidisciplinary collaborations with faculty members in other Harvard Chan departments and Harvard-affiliated centers, as well as other institutions.
