Armen H. Tashjian Jr. Annual Award

The Armen H. Tashjian Jr. Award was established to recognize early-career faculty members who are pursuing novel areas of discovery in endocrine and related areas of research.

We were thrilled to celebrate the winners of the 2025 Armen H. Tashjian Jr. Awards for Excellence in Endocrine Research at our annual award ceremony on May 14, 2025.

Bo Yuan, Ph.D., of the Hui Lab in the Department of Molecular Metabolism, was named the recipient of the Research Fellow Award, and Cristina Aguayo-Mazzucato, M.D., Ph.D., of Joslin Diabetes Center and Harvard Medical School, was selected as the winner of the Faculty Award.

Dr. Bo Yuan was honored for his innovative development of metabolic flux analysis tools that have advanced the study of energy homeostasis in vivo. His interdisciplinary approach—combining systems biology, metabolism, and data science—has provided valuable new insights into physiological regulation.

Dr. Aguayo-Mazzucato was recognized for her groundbreaking research on the role of cellular aging in the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes, and for identifying novel strategies to reverse beta cell dysfunction and loss. Her work has significantly advanced our understanding of how cellular senescence drives metabolic disease, opening promising avenues for therapeutic intervention.
