Community & Belonging
Public health progress depends on collaboration—across disciplines, experiences, and communities. In the Department of Biostatistics, we believe that when every member of our community can participate fully and contribute their ideas and expertise, our research, teaching, and partnerships are stronger and more impactful.
Our efforts are supported by the Office for Community and Belonging, which works across the School to foster environments where individuals can connect, contribute, and thrive. Together, we aim to create a department where people feel supported in sharing ideas, learning from one another, and advancing solutions that improve the health and well-being of populations.
In the Department of Biostatistics, members of our community connect through a range of events and shared experiences that make the department both intellectually vibrant and an exciting environment to work, teach, and grow. Throughout the year, we host signature events such as the HSPH / DFCI Colloquium Seminar Series, the Lagakos Alumni Award , the Myrto Lefkopoulou Lectureship, the Marvin Zelen Leadership Award, our Career Development Series, Faculty Fireside Chats, and a variety of events organized by the Biostatistics Community & Belonging Group that create opportunities to showcase research, exchange ideas, and celebrate the achievements that shape our department. These moments foster a sense of energy, creativity, and community that makes the Department of Biostatistics a place where people enjoy learning, collaborating, and contributing to an innovative research, teaching, and working environment.
