Conference stipends

Learn more about Women, Gender, and Health conference stipends.

Purpose and how to apply

We offer conference stipends each semester to support students attending, presenting, organizing, or moderating conferences with a clear gender analysis component relevant to public health research or practice. The stipend aims to:

  1. Enhance educational and professional benefits and connections to strengthen capacity in gender analysis.
  2. Support the presentation of research (oral or poster presentations) with a clear gender analysis component.
  3. Assist in organizing or moderating sessions that connect gender and health.

Stipends are awarded following the submission and approval of a Conference-Stipend-Application. Applications are due via email (wgh@hsph.harvard.edu) by the deadlines specified. The stipends can cover travel, accommodation, incidental costs, and registration fees, with a funding limit of up to $750 for US-based conferences and up to $1,000 for international (non-US) conferences.

Each student is eligible for one stipend per year, and applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If the Conference Stipend Application is approved, students will receive between 70% and 100% of the funding limit (i.e., $525 to $750 for the US-based award, and $700 to $1000 for the international (non-US based) award), depending on the number of stipends awarded that semester.

All stipend applicants must submit a written report form alongside reimbursement receipts in order to be reimbursed.

This year’s applications are due on November 4, 2024 and April 28, 2025.
