Update on our strategic planning process
To the Harvard Chan community:
I came into this job believing that Harvard Chan School was a remarkable place. Five months later, I am even more impressed. It has been a joy to meet so many of you, to learn about your work and your studies, and to see first-hand the depth of your commitment to building a world where everyone can thrive.
My listening tour has been incredibly helpful. So far, I’ve held more than 40 individual conversations and several group sessions. I’ve also received more than 75 thoughtful comments through our online form. As much as I’ve learned, I know I still have more to absorb. So please keep using the online form to share your thoughts; I read every submission.
Last week, I convened department chairs and administrative leaders to begin the process of building a vision and developing a strategic plan for the School’s next five years. We will continue to work through the summer and fall, incorporating the insights and ideas that so many of you have provided. Throughout the process, we will also seek additional input from all segments of our community. Your voices are critical as we map out the School’s future together.
In my first email to all of you last January, I included sunrise photos that filled me with optimism. This time around, I’m proud to share photos of our fabulous Harvard Chan community. I still love sunrises — but these days, nothing fills me with more hope than the faces of our incredible students, faculty, staff, researchers, and trainees.
I’m also delighted to share a link to this short video of highlights from our Convocation. It’s a beautiful reminder of all that unites us as we work toward a world with health, dignity, and justice for every human being.
I hope you enjoy the summer months and make time to relax and recharge.
Best,
Andrea
