A Conversation with Nan Lairdregistration required) The Boston Chapter of the ASA is hosting a conversation with Dr. Nan Laird, the Harvey V. Fineberg Professor of Public Health, Emerita, in the Department of Biostatistics. During her more than forty years on the faculty, Dr. Laird developed many simple and practical statistical methods for pressing public health and medical problems and mentored a large number of students and researchers. Her work on the EM Algorithm is among the top 100 most cited of all published articles in science. Among her many other accomplishments, she received the Mosteller Award from the Boston Chapter in 1996. In 2021, she was awarded the International Prize in Statistics in recognition of her work on flexible and powerful methods for the analysis of complex longitudinal studies (https://statprize.org). The conversation will be moderated by alumnus Joseph Hogan, ScD ’95, the Carole and Lawrence Sirovich Professor of Public Health, Professor of Biostatistics and Chair of Biostatistics at Brown University.
