Program Overview

Build healthier, higher-performing workplaces with evidence-based wellness strategies.

Employee burnout, chronic disease, and mental health challenges are escalating across industries, yet many corporate wellness programs remain fragmented, superficial, or poorly evaluated. Lifestyle Medicine and Workplace Health is an online program designed to help organizational leaders and wellness professionals design, implement, and evaluate workplace wellness initiatives that improve employee health, resilience, and organizational performance.

The course integrates clinical science, behavioral change principles, and business strategy to translate worker well-being into measurable outcomes. Across the program, participants will explore how to design workplace wellness initiatives that respond to real employee needs, fit organizational context, and support measurable outcomes.

  • A practical wellness program design framework

Program Details

This program is delivered fully online in a flexible, primarily asynchronous format designed for working professionals. The learning experience includes short expert-led lectures, guided case examples, and structured implementation exercises that help participants translate concepts into practical action within their own organizations. The program is designed to be completed in approximately ten hours and may also include live elements such as optional office hours to support deeper engagement.

Harvard Chan Advanced Learning Academy courses emphasize applied learning. Rather than focusing only on awareness-building, the program helps participants develop practical tools for workplace use such as implementation toolkits and a wellness program design framework. Each module is structured to connect scientific evidence with real-world organizational decision-making.

This program is designed for professionals responsible for workforce health, employee well-being, and organizational performance, including:

  • HR leaders and benefits managers
  • Corporate wellness coordinators
  • Occupational health leaders
  • Executives and managers responsible for workforce well-being

It is especially relevant for professionals across healthcare, technology, education, manufacturing, government, and other sectors who want to build workplace wellness initiatives that are evidence-based, practical, and aligned with organizational goals.

The curriculum begins with an introduction to Lifestyle Medicine in the workplace and how to design effective wellness programs. It then explores key topics such as stress and burnout, physical activity and ergonomics, nutrition, sleep, resilience and healthy coping habits, and the use of digital and wearable technologies, among others. Please note that this list of topics is subject to change.
