International Health Systems Program

The International Health Systems Program (IHSP) is a multidisciplinary team of faculty, scholars, and experts working to improve health systems in to improve health and living standards. IHSP is located in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. IHSP integrates the social sciences with clinical, public health, and health systems expertise, to improve and disseminate knowledge about health systems work and how they can be strengthened. IHSP’s work takes place through teaching, research, and technical assistance.

Training, short courses

IHSP develops regularly scheduled intensive courses, as well as customized programs to fit the unique needs of a country team or organization. Our programs are designed for public officials, policymakers, researchers, and others who strive to improve the health their citizens.

Research

IHSP’s research contributes to health system improvements worldwide in four areas of focus. A listing of peer-reviewed journal articles can be found on the publications page. Key areas of IHSP research include:

Technical assistance

IHSP brings together an experienced, multidisciplinary team of scholars and experts to apply innovative approaches to support the implementation of health system programs and reforms. IHSP is committed to both advancing the state of relevant knowledge and applying this knowledge to achieve better health status, reductions in poverty, and gains in human well-being in low and middle-income countries.
