Can humans live longer? Maybe.

December 4, 2024 – William Mair—whose lab focuses on the biology of the aging process—was a guest on a Nov. 29 podcast focused on the limits of human longevity.

Mair, professor of molecular metabolism at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, was among several experts interviewed on a CBC podcast called “Quirks & Quarks.” Mair and his colleagues have conducted research looking at possible ways to slow down the aging process and have been able to extend the lifespan of creatures such as nematode worms, fruit flies, and mice. Mair noted that while there’s no proof at this time that a human’s maximum lifespan can be extended, it could be possible in the future.
