About
The Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (CCDD) is led by Director, Prof. Marc Lipsitch, and Associate Director, Prof. Bill Hanage.
CCDD is a leading research and training hub for mathematical modeling of infectious disease dynamics. Research conducted at CCDD is multidisciplinary in nature and draws on expertise from various fields such as epidemiology, immunology, zoology, biostatistics, genomics and more.
CCDD’s work can be summarized in 3 domains: study of specific diseases; scientific approaches developed to understand them; and the resulting impact. To learn more please go to the “Our Work” Section.
Major research themes include surveillance methods, vaccine trial design, pathogen evolution, epidemiological methods, and antimicrobial resistance.
CCDD’s research has wide reaching impact for public health at the local, national and global levels as it informs policy and scientific discovery to advance the field of infectious disease epidemiology.
Since its founding in 2009, as an NIH-funded MIDAS Center of Excellence, the Center has trained nearly 200 scientists at the undergraduate, masters, doctoral and postdoctoral levels, and continues to provide unique and multidisciplinary training opportunities to future public health leaders.
