Accelerate health outcomes at your organization with Total Worker Health Webinar

The Center for Work, Health, & Well-Being and HealthPartners collaboratively developed an educational webinar to introduce key aspects of a Total Worker Health approach. Led by Joel Spoonheim, Senior Director of Worksite Health and Population Well-being at HealthPartners, and Jack Dennerlein, Dean of Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Boston University and Senior Advisor at the Center for Work, Health, and Well-being, the webinar provides a step-by-step explanation of an organizational approach to addressing worker safety, health, and well-being.

Key takeaways from the webinar include:

  • Understanding the Total Worker Health approach: The webinar introduces an integrated organizational approach that addresses worker safety, health, and well-being.
  • Using the Action Planning Worksheet: The webinar is organized into three sections, each paired with a corresponding Action Planning Worksheet activity that helps participants reflect on the information presented and apply Total Worker Health principles within their own organizations.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement: Participants are guided through the process of identifying working conditions in their organizations that could be improved to better support worker safety, health, and well-being.
  • Addressing root causes: The webinar encourages participants to examine the underlying root causes of working conditions that may affect employee well-being.
  • Creating an action plan: Participants begin developing practical action plans to address identified workplace challenges and improve working conditions.

Please download the editable Action Planning Worksheet before watching this webinar. The webinar is self-guided and will prompt you to pause between sections, giving you the opportunity to consider the information shared as you complete the corresponding sections of the Action Planning Worksheet.

Health and Safety Toolbox Talks

Programs to improve construction worker health, safety, and productivity often incorporate interactive Toolbox Talks, providing opportunities for learning and workers’ sharing of experiences and suggestions. The Center developed a series of Toolbox Talks as part of the All the Right Moves (ARM) Program with construction workers, based on research findings indicating that three categories – Respiratory Health, Safety Climate, and Work Life – are especially important. These address the construction industry’s significant physical hazards and incidences of injuries, including musculoskeletal disorders, and high-risk health behaviors, both of which limit productivity and ability to work. Our extensive list of Toolbox Talks can be accessed below.
