Yonatan Grad Appointed Director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics

Effective January 1, IID professor Dr. Yonatan Grad has been appointed director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics – CCDD.
Dr. Grad has been a member of the CCDD community since 2010 and leads the Grad Lab, which focuses on preparing for and responding effectively to infectious disease threats by studying interacting processes spanning microbial evolution to human ecology.
The lab employs interdisciplinary methods, such as mathematical modeling, with goals of advancing clinical and public health practices. Dr. Grad is also trained in internal medicine and as an infectious disease physician.
The CCDD strives to improve methods for infectious disease modeling and statistical analysis, quantify the impact of diseases and intervention, engages with policymakers to support evidence-based decision-making, and train the next generation of scientists.
