Michal McDowell, MD, MPH

Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow, Boston Children’s Hospital

Michal (she/they) is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital. She completed residency in the Physician Scientist Training Program in Psychiatry at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital / McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry Residency Program in 2018 and continues to work at MGH and McLean. She also has a small private practice. She grew up in Dallas, TX and Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Stanford University in 2011 with a major in Human Biology and a minor in Iberian and Latin American Cultures. Prior to pursuing medical training, she worked in Washington, D.C. where she spent time tracking Affordable Care Act implementation on a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and subsequently worked at the public policy office of the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). She holds an MD/MPH from Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Michal’s research interests include mental health, LGBTQ health disparities, health services, and policy.
