Dee Jolly, MSc
PhD student, Department of Anthropology, University of Oregon
Dee (they/them) is a PhD student studying biological anthropology at the University of Oregon in Dr. Zachary DuBois’ Stress, Adaptation, and Resilience (STAR) lab. Their dissertation research focuses on mapping the experiential and physiological pathways through which social inequality becomes embodied to affect health. Dee’s research interests include trans health, intersectional approaches to health inequities, chronic pain, allostatic load, and minority stress. Dee is also passionate about advancing research methods for studying gender/sex and LGBTQ+ health.
Prior to coming to the UO, Dee worked as a research specialist and research manager at the Center for Gender Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. They received their MS in Medical Anthropology and Cross-Cultural Practice from Boston University School of Medicine in 2018, where they studied the healthcare experiences of queer and transgender people of color in the Boston area through an intersectionality perspective. They also hold a BA in Anthropology and a BS in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Florida.
