Meghan Zimmer Salas (“Meg”, she/her) is a PhD Candidate in Population Health Sciences with a concentration in Public Health Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research, advised by Dr. Erica Kenney, focuses on the WIC program.
Working at the intersection of public health and public service, Meg served in federal agencies across the research and implementation spectrum—including the USDA, NIH, and Indian Health Service—and was honored with a Special Service Recognition Award from the NCI’s Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program. Meg has remained active in public service during her time at Harvard and completed a tour of active duty in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps through the COSTEP program, reaffirming her commitment to service at every level of her training.
She has published widely in scientific journals and serves as a Technical Editor for The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and on the Board of Editors for the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Outside of work, Meg is happiest with a racket in her left hand. A former NCAA Division I tennis player, she is now learning squash – an indoor racket sport that is popular during the cold Boston winters.
