Homelessness Solutions Academy (HSA)

Overview

Homelessness is a public health crisis that no single sector can solve alone. The Homelessness Solutions Academy (HSA) brings together government officials, business leaders, and direct service providers — including people with lived experience of homelessness — to break down the silos that have long impeded effective response.

Over 12 months, HSA combines academic instruction from Harvard faculty, hands-on technical assistance from Homebase, and expert facilitation to help teams design, plan, and begin implementing a homelessness intervention tailored to their community.

How it works

Level-set (Months 1-3)

Virtual foundational seminars survey the strengths and limitations of current homelessness interventions through case studies and interactive lectures.

Plan (Months 4-8)

Teams unite at a three-day Harvard Chan symposium to choose an intervention, then build their strategy through virtual planning labs with an IHH/Homebase facilitator.

Implement (Months 9-12)

Teams begin implementation with individualized technical assistance, concluding with a capstone in-person event where teams present their work and receive feedback.

The 2026-2027 Cohort

Ten teams from across the country make up the inaugural HSA cohort.

Future Participation & Funding

Interested in bringing a team to a future HSA cohort — or sponsoring one? HSA is funded through private, corporate, and community partners who sponsor a local team as an investment in their community’s response to homelessness. Tuition is $75,000 per team of up to 8 participants, covering curriculum development, virtual and in-person learning sessions, coaching, and technical assistance (participant travel is estimated separately).
