Week 7: Real-World Challenges and Opportunities

This week, we will be learning about infectious disease surveillance, forecasting, and about the use of genomic tools in infectious disease epidemiology. We will look at the ways in which data on infectious diseases are typically collected and how this data can be used, in conjunction with mathematical models, for infectious disease forecasting. We will also look at the use of mathematical models for real-time forecasting and outbreak response. Finally, in the last section, we will explore the use of pathogen genomics for controlling and containing infectious diseases.
