At the interdisciplinary Zhu Family Center for Global Cancer Prevention, our mission is to support groundbreaking research that develops and implements novel methods, technologies, and tools to further the translation of cancer prevention work into clinical and public health practice. We are dedicated to prevention education and research across the cancer continuum.

World Cancer Week 2025

World Cancer Day is an international day observed every February 4 to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilize action to address the global cancer epidemic.

The day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and was established in the year 2000.

Executive Chef Chris Kelly will demonstrate cancer-mindful recipes in conversation with Martin Breslin, Harvard University’s Director of Culinary Operations. A small-plate tasting reception will follow. Join us to improve your cooking skills, enjoy a healthy bite, and socialize.

Throughout the week, patrons at Sebastian’s Café at the Harvard School of Public Health and both the Elements and Courtyard Cafes at Harvard Medical School can enjoy cancer-mindful specialty menu items prepared with ingredients and cooking methods that have been shown to support long-term health.
